John Reed

While I was reading the latest issue of MONEY magazine I came across and interview with John T Reed. This got my attention immediately because I love real estate and he seemed different (probably how he gets business is by being different) but he puts down a lot of late night TV real estate investors and gurus who brag about how much money they made but don't back it up with property.

Soo.. I went to his site.

www.johntreed.com and just read basic information. (He is trying to sell books by the way) but just reading through his website I learned a lot of things I didn't know.. CAP rate and discounts on a property.

He also sends out a newsletter which just advice on taxes and real estate. Sort of like some of these blogs...

Good definiton on why the Federal Reserve wants to slow the economy.

"Contrary to popular belief, excessive economic growth can in fact be very detrimental. At one extreme, an economy that is growing too fast can experience hyperinflation, resulting in the problems we mentioned earlier. At the other extreme, an economy with no inflation has essentially stagnated. The right level of economic growth, and thus inflation, is somewhere in the middle. It's the Fed's job to maintain that delicate balance. A tightening, or rate increase, attempts to head off future inflation. An easing, or rate decrease, aims to spur on economic growth"

Did you get into BUD (ANHEUSER BUSCH)?

I wish I did it was at 40 dollars when I read the article about it in forbes or maybe fortune, that Berkshire bought a substantial amount of shares.

I think I am going to research to become a value investor (when you invest in LARGE, ESTABLISHED companies on the cheap)...

By the way the stock is now 46 and still rising..

The reason for the rising is at least I believe.. it is starting to gain market share in china, which are actually bigger beer drinkers than americans!!..

I belive the reason it lost value is because BUD was loosing market share in America for the smaller "home made" brewers... If you haven't noticed BUD is fighting back with Select and aggresive marketing..

Any comments?

It is final. I signed up for full time classes in the fall. In hopes of a better job and a 401 (k) and networking options. (notice how I didn't use commas I in dire need of an educmation)

I am going to go for mechanical and civil engineering. (in hopes of working on buildings and many other things).

The consequence of this is I will be digging into my savings for insurance and food basically. Housing and school is paid for since I live close to campus in my fathers house! (best way to keep the costs down).
